Doctrinal Basis

The Doctrinal Basis for the North East Gospel Partnership

The North East Gospel Partnership is a partnership of Bible believing evangelicals in the North East of England.  We are united in and committed to:

Preaching Jesus Christ crucified.  That the message of the cross is God’s only way of saving people from his coming wrath

Expounding the Bible. As the Bible is prayerfully taught in the power of the Spirit God’s voice is heard

The local church. It is primarily through the local church that unbelievers are brought to faith in Christ and believers are built up in him.

  • We believe the Bible to be 'God's word written', the supreme authority in doctrine and practice, and in its sufficiency and clarity for the resolving of disputes about Christian faith and life.
  • We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious death and atonement through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father and in his personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Spirit are essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to serve God and live a godly life.
  • We believe in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and eternal life.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of the church, which is the body of Christ composed of all who are regenerated through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the primacy of evangelism and nurture in the local church’s task of proclaiming the gospel of God.
